Renate Wind

It’s probably not Renate Wind’s fault that I had such a strong dislike for Dietrich Bonhoeffer: a spoke in the wheel. I simply was not educated enough to appreciate it.

If you have a strong working knowledge 1930s German political movements, and European theological trends of the early 20th century, please read this book and tell me if it’s any good. It tells how he maneuvered through his social and political milieu, but it doesn’t explain the milieu. It tells how he developed his views, but it doesn’t really tell what they are. And it contains the least exciting account of a failed assassination attempt that I’ve ever read.

If you think it might be nice to have an introduction into Bonhoeffer’s life and thought, but are new to the field, keep looking.
